A Holy Week of its own
Murcia’s Holy Week has been a Festival of International Tourist Interest since 2011. 15 brotherhoods take out 17 processions with nearly a hundred floats (pasos), all carried on the shoulders of the estantes.
It has a style of its own, the “traditional” one, born in the 18th century: a short, blunt hood that leaves the face uncovered, the robe gathered at the waist and huerta esparto sandals. Its great treasure is Francisco Salzillo’s sculpture, which comes out on Good Friday morning; the oldest brotherhood, the Sangre (the Coloraos), goes back to the early 15th century.

Frequently asked questions
When is Holy Week in Murcia in 2027?
From Friday 19 March (Friday of Sorrows) to Sunday 28 March (Easter Sunday). There are processions every day, 17 in all.
What time is the Salzillo procession in 2027?
On Good Friday, 26 March, in the morning, from the Iglesia de Jesús. It sets out at 7:00 (estimated): before the clock change, so an hour earlier than in 2025 and 2026, because it keeps to “six o’clock, solar time”. The 2027 time is confirmed by the Cabildo’s programme.
When is the Coloraos procession?
On Holy Wednesday, 24 March, from the Iglesia del Carmen: it sets out at 18:00 (estimated) and reaches Plaza Belluga at about 19:00. As in every traditional-style procession, its nazarenos hand out sweets, monas and broad beans.
When is the Procession of Silence?
On Maundy Thursday night, 25 March, from the church of San Lorenzo, with the streets left in darkness: it sets out at 22:00 (estimated).
Where is the best place to see the processions?
Every procession passes Plaza Belluga, in front of the Cathedral, and each page gives the time. To see one set out or return, wait at the door of its church. On the animated map, “Near me” tells you which ones pass close to you and when.
When is the 2027 programme published?
The Cabildo Superior de Cofradías publishes the official programme (“El Cabildillo”) around February. Until then this page shows times estimated from the 2024 to 2026 programmes, which barely change from year to year, and it switches to the official ones as soon as they are out.
Are there processions in the districts (pedanías)?
Yes: Beniaján, Los Dolores, Churra, La Alberca and Casillas and others have their own processions. See the list below.
